What it is
Catcher starts on both knees wearing chest protector and helmet. Partner stands 10 feet away and throws soft tosses at the catcher's midsection. Catcher positions glove out front, pulls elbows back, and absorbs the ball into the chest while maintaining eye contact. The drill then progresses to the same mechanics from a standing athletic stance. Optional bonus: catcher attempts to catch balls on one bounce.

Blocking body position and glove management. Eye discipline and staying composed when balls arrive at the body. Elbow leverage and chest absorption to control rebounds.
Focuses on improving
Builds trust in catchers who flinch, raise their chin, or close their eyes on pitches in the dirt. Corrects the reflex to go up instead of absorbing down and forward into the chest.
